My family moved to the village when I was just five years old and apart from a stint in London when I was in the police, I have always been lucky enough to call Alton home.

Over the years, I have enjoyed seeing my much loved village evolve. Witnessing these changes first hand has not only fuelled my interest in the history of the local area but also its stunning landscape and architecture.

In 2012, I helped set up ACE, as I believe that a strong community creates a safer and better environment for everyone to live in. For the last 13 years, I have been a Parish Councillor and am currently the Chairman. I am married and have a beautiful daughter and in my spare time I enjoy tending my allotment behind the White Hart, growing much of what I eat.

I grew up in the village and have spent most of my life here, only disappearing off to enjoy my passion for travelling….but I always come back!

I’ve been organising events forever - from school, to university and then back here in the village, in the local school PTAs, Village Hall Committee and now Alton Community Events Group for the last 11 years - I particularly enjoy ACE events as they’ve really helped to bring together the local community.

My most recent job was as a Village Halls advisor, also helping voluntary groups/charities to set up & run…..now I’m a lady of leisure…or so my family tells me! I don't seem to have much spare time, but when I do, you’ll see me out walking or cycling & enjoying our beautiful area.

As a proud son of Alton, I aim to encapsulate and personify the spirit of my hometown in all that I do. My career began at Alton Towers, where I gained valuable experience and learnt the ropes of customer relations. After working at The Towers over a period of three years, I pursued my passion for the great outdoors, immersing myself in various local businesses, putting my love for adventure into practice, most recently at the bike shop.

I enjoy taking a big part in the local community, working with local groups and events like Alton Apple Day and the Alton Fun Run. As a big lover of beer, my passion was first fermented in my garden shed, which would eventually give birth to Rural Brew.

Louie - Marketing & Publicity

Born in East Anglia, I grew up on a haunted farm in the dark depths of Norfolk, where an early encounter with one of its former residents inspired a lifelong curiosity for all that is strange and unexplained. Previously a former holiday maker to the area, in 2021, I literally pursued my dreams by becoming a permanent resident of the village.

Having barely known a soul before I moved, ACE has been a wonderful way for me to feel part of the community and makes good use of my design and publicity skills.

Whilst it may have been the excitement and exhilaration of the Alton Towers that first called me to Alton, it was the Towers ruins and architecture of AWN Pugin that stole my heart. I vowed one day I would tell their story, and so now I am writing the first of a series of novels that chronicle their captivating history.

When I am not writing, I love nothing more than taking my camera on adventures, be it exploring theme parks, abandoned buildings, or village churches.
