10th Anniversary Apple Day
It’s that time of year when we celebrate all things Appley at Alton’s much loved Apple Day! This year is even more special as we celebrate our 10th anniversary.
The festivities begin at The Bridge House Hotel from noon, so keep an eye on our social media for updates on the fun to come, but for now...
For all the bakers out there, it is your opportunity to show off your skills by bringing along your own apple themed cake with prizes for the best. Entry is free for anyone entering a cake, so get creative with those apples!
Make sure to also bring along your own apples for pressing and suitable containers to collect and take home all that wonderful juice. Not sure what apples you have? Challenge our apple experts to identify the variety.
Don’t worry about going hungry, as a tasty BBQ will provide a range of good things to eat, including delicious pork and apple burgers. Ice cream and further tasty options will be served from the hatch and a fantastic range of ciders will also available to enjoy.

Where it all started...
One of our most popular events is undoubtedly Apple Day, which takes place every October at the Bridge House Hotel’s riverside gardens.
Apple Day was originally started in 1990 by Common Ground as a way to celebrate the humble apple. As part of this celebration, they also wanted to bring awareness to the ongoing loss of traditional orchards, as well as highlighting the richness and diversity in the landscape, ecology, and culture of local communities.

In 2012, Alton Community Events decided to hold Alton’s first ever Apple Day and have continued this much loved annual tradition ever since.
At Alton Apple Day there is always a plethora of apple related activities and fun to enjoy, from apple crushing to apple wanging and all to the sound of great live music.
